SACRAMENTS OF HEALING

Through the sacraments of Christian initiation, man receives the new life of Christ. Now we carry this life "in earthen vessels," and it remains "hidden with Christ in God." We are still in our "earthly tent," subject to suffering, illness, and death. This new life as a child of God can be weakened and even lost by sin. (CCC 1420)

The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, his work of healing and salvation, even among her own members. This is the purpose of the two sacraments of healing: the sacrament of Penance and the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.  (CCC1421)

Sacrament of Reconciliation

First Reconciliation:
    Children in grade 2 prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation

    Instruction includes:
        Parent meeting
        Workbook completed at home with parents
        Retreat
        Interview with priest prior to the children making their first Reconciliation

Confessions are available during these hours:
Weekdays: 20 minutes before all daily Masses
Saturday: 8-8:30 a.m., 4:00 - 4:45 p.m., or by appointment 

Sacrament of Anointing

If a member of your family is seriously ill or dying, please contact our parish office (235-5757) so that a priest can visit him or her, administer the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick and provide spiritual support and guidance during the time of illness.

Funerals:

When a family member dies, please call the parish office or the rectory (235-1514).  We will work with you and the funeral home to arrange the wake, funeral and burial.  In addition, our parish nurse coordinator or our coordinator of the Grief Share Program, will be available to you during the difficult months following the death of a loved one.
We will provide assistance with musical selections, accompanists and vocalists, and can coordinate the serving of food after the wake or funeral if you wish.
